New Ram 1500

If you are looking for a full-sized truck that can haul and tow consumer-grade loads, like your large camper trailer or toy hauler, the Ram 1500 is a great choice. The Ram 1500 provides you the option of a V6 or a twin-turbocharged I6 engine. The latter delivers either in the low-400 or mid-500 horsepower range, depending upon the trim model. The base V6 is paired with a 48-volt hybrid system and provides over 300 horsepower. These powertrains are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. You can get your Ram 1500 in either rear- or four-wheel drive.

New Jeep Gladiator and Off-Roading

Of course, the Jeep brand of automobiles is synonymous with off-roading. The Jeep Gladiator is the mid-sized truck version of its well-known sibling, the Jeep Wrangler. The advantage of the Gladiator is that you get the utility of a 5.5-foot cargo bed in a vehicle that still has great approach and departure angles for off-road adventures. The Gladiator has trim models with features such as skid plates, a limited-slip front and/or rear differential, mud or all-terrain tires and axle ratios that aid rock-crawling adventures. You can remove the doors, roof and windshield in the Gladiator, just like you can in the Wrangler.

The Gladiator comes standard with a V6 engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and only comes in four-wheel drive. There is just under 20 inches of extra length between its front and rear wheels compared to the Jeep Wrangler. Your towing capacity with an out-of-the-box Gladiator is greater than the Wrangler's. Add the tow package, and you can tow over twice as much as the Wrangler, allowing the Gladiator to tow medium and some large trailers.
